At ET Works we are proud that our customers choose to work with us for many years. In the case of some of our energy clients, that can be several decades, and in these situations we’re there to provide IT, Information and subsurface data management over whatever that journey may bring. The example below is from one such client. As they developed the company from an organisation that was primarily focused on downstream distribution, they chose to expand their exploration portfolio – rapidly increasing their E&P footprint by a combination of new field development and growth by acquisition. They recognised from very early in their journey that they would require support across the full spectrum of activities, offices and drill sites. Whether that was supporting existing teams in Nigeria or Norway, drill-ships and rigs, or acquisition and mergers from Trinidad to Aberdeen, ET Works were there to help.
We provided not only the core IT systems – from SAN to NAS, servers to desktops, but also the IT service desk, records management, subsurface applications support and data management. Alongside these core competencies in supporting the day to day business activities with an onsite team of 12, we helped develop and streamline a series of standards, procedures, nomenclatures and taxonomies that made life for the user community more efficient and more accurate.
Nothing is ever constant though, and over the course of more than a decade, that journey will always involves change. This included major migrations of systems and servers over the years, from standard three-tier storage to high performance NAS, together with major data integrations and entire application platform migrations. ET Works were heavily involved as the existing subsurface applications were first upgraded and then ultimately moved to the new Petrel / Studio environment that continues today. We performed not only the technical work, but also the project planning and management using our accredited Prince2 staff.
Whether it’s sending someone to Sweden with a portable NAS unit to bring back terabytes of wind-farm data and liaise with the local acquisition teams, designing the PAS55 standards for their data management or looking after hardcopy records management and document control, ET Works were there. And continue to be there to this day.
